That is my constant dilemma while
I socializing with audio people. Om a surface the question about T/S parameters for Goto is reasonable.
It means now I need to correlate whoever I know Goto user and the people who
know ...

Glad to hear you'll be building the horns on the ground, after all. It really is the best way, for so many reasons, as you will see.Romy, if your carpenter knows what he is doing, then I recommend you do not alert local building officials. They wil...

It is almost ironic, in the context of your original post, that you've refered me to "Physics" as a sort of generic introduction or prerequisite to practical musical ULF. But I do appreciate your applied thoughts on the evils of feedback loops, and ...

Hmmm... Thorny, difficult topic...The "integration" of HF certainly involves its "disappearance" - as "HF", as such - "into the soundfield". At the very least, Tone ultimately depends on this. But there also appear to be other benefits from "ge...

Jessie, we keep meeting at the same intersection. Like I said before, I agree that direct radiators suck, for all the reasons you cited. But if what you say about horns is strictly and completely true, then does it not follow in spades at ever lower...

Since I last posted there has been some progress to my indoor and my outdoor systems. Indoors I have added a pair of tapped subs. I must say that I am quite happy with these. Of course they are not as good as full size front loaded horns but still a ...

A few days ago a friend of mine and I did spent over an hour to fantasize what might be done if the ULF tube SET is planned. It is not so simple as to drive the tube like 833/GU-48, you will not be able to do with Milq driver. But I also would like d...
I'm well aware of your discovery. But I find it somehow a cheap trick. This is a purely irrational feeling, absolutely irrelevant for you and your system.
I world not call it irrational, in fact it is very rational and I ...

We should define some borders here; LF, when you have an UBH, should be from around 100 hz down to 30 hz, where the last fundamental tone of an instrument is played. ULF should be under 25-20hz.I would say that a driver playing 25-30 hz should...

It took for me a few weeks
to put up a new direct radiator Midbass channels. Each channel has 2 of Vitavox
15/40 drivers is seals 2 cu foot enclosures. No filtration of any kind on
speaker level and Vitavoxes juts are driver from Milq LF channel t...

“A large room, open to the
stairs, maybe a dozen watts to play with” that was exactly my concern from
beginning. Of cause I could employ a more powerful amps from bottom but it my
case it would be under 100Hz and it would be a big white flag. So, ...

A friend of my after reading my comments about the EdgarHorn installation in Vegas (in here) asked me why do I think the bass in Bruce’s room behave as it behaved. I tried to think about it. Some of those thoughts intersect with some other projects t...

I guess it’s time to talk about these amps in terms of The
Loudspeakers. In truth, I thought of these amps from the first time I thought
about The Loudspeakers, to the point where I “built and tested” The
Loudspeakers with...

A few months ago, in May of last year in the thread about Listening Rooms and Composers and How to play Bruckner Sound on Audio I have complained that my room is not what I was looking for as I was hoping to have Bruckner Room but I need up with...

Thanks, Rakesh. It might be a good driver, I always like Scan Speaks.
A few things. The Scan Speak nowadays is not Scan Speak anymore, just a name and they made by someone else. Also, I would like different type of drivers. I would like 18-24 ...

Here are two guys in Belgium that made up 833A 150W amp. That might be a good candidate for driving ULF channels.

Paul, thanks! I'm quite happy to hear I'm not the only one fighting vibrations in a seemingly dead structures...It takes a lot of thinking to properly isolate and damp vibrations. Not unlike in the complementary problem: reproduction of the audio rang...

Hello, Ulf.
Interesting. The TAD1201H is 12-incher with resonant frequency of 50Hz. It has relatively low resonant frequency for 100Hz Tractrix midbass but you most like used 10” thought and consequentially shorter horn. The shorter horns beam...
I do not understand what does it mean. Are you saying
that you lost bottom response with closed exit hole on the driver back? If with
the closed drift from back you have a (loaded!) response no lower than 200Hz then it i...
Since you added a new parameter in audio play back called : Decor I'm afraid, it may make it far too hard.
I agree but it I do not think that it would change my mind. Perhaps “décor” is not right word however; it is not...

Petar, wonderful observation as usual. I would like to add one factor that is always there but practically impossible to consider predictably. Any driver has suspension (with exception of suspension-less drivers that are not suitable for bass) and th...

I told somewhere at the site about my idea of Zarathustra.
The amp as good as it is but I want to make it super compact and with max efficiency.
The efficiency I was considering to get
by making the secondary of output stage switchable. I got fro...

One advantage of the use of a phase plug in a midbass horn is that it will beam less at higher frequenzies than a horn without phase plug. If the phase plug is designed for the specific horn and driver it will help "steer" the HF.
Me and a friend ...

Dear Romy,
well the horns are actually not designed for HF. The intended working range is up to 5-700. But since we use low Q, only second order filters we want to have a rather large overlap in the crossover region and a fairly even pattern over ...

its still expensive, but birch-plywood is not that much cheaper. its around 30-40 €/sqm. the only experience i have with a carbon-foam composite is from making a skateboard for my gf´s son. looks very good, but whats more important, ab...

Hi Jessie:It is indeed a (t)horny dilemna whether to get rid of the midbass horns now, with a view to starting all over again and customise the new horns for your eventual new home in Detroit or ship them at unfortunately what will be a very substant...
